Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Solar Do I Need For My 1-Bed, 2-Bed
or 3-Bedroom House?

Every house is different and we do not size solar based on the number of bedrooms. We start with your utility bill and understand your solar goals. We then provide you with a solar system that will reduce your electricity bill by the amount you choose.

Does My Solar System Work During A Power Outage?

A solar grid-tie system will not work when power cuts off under the required regulations in The Bahamas.

Is Solar Energy Expensive?

The upfront costs of home-based solar energy installation are higher, but consumers can begin to reap the benefits within 4 -6 years.

What is Involved in Permitting A Solar System and
Why is it Important?

When you install any solar system, you become your own power plant that is connected to the utility grid. The permitting process ensures that the equipment used for your solar installation is code-compliant and that the installation is installed per The Bahamas’ Electrical Code. The permitted process is there to protect you as the homeowner from sub-par products and non-licensed installers as well as providing you with the legal framework to send BPL your excess solar electricity to receive the Net-Billing Credit on your utility bil.

Is a Solar Battery System the Best Way to Save Money?

If your main goal is to save money on electricity, we recommend a grid-tie solar system without batteries. It has the lowest upfront cost and the quickest payback.

How Long Does It Take To Install My Solar System?

Although the typical solar installation takes less than a week, we also complete a full set of electrical drawings and permit the system by BPL before we install anything on your home. This extends the typical process between 8-12 weeks.
